Staff Accountant

McLean is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Glen Burnie, MD.

 

A Staff Accountant will manage accounting and administrative duties related to the efficient maintenance of an accurate general ledger.  They ensure the overall department is well-managed, processes and functions are running smoothly and that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhere to approved budgets.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

Exercise strategic thinking and leadership in pursuit of company goals.

 

Champions continuous improvement in all areas, including safety, operations, and cost control.

 

Possesses strong organizational skills with an attention to detail and accuracy, an ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

 

Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, effective verbal, listening, communication, organizational and management skills.

 

Displays high proficiency in computer software programs such as Word, Excel, and database systems.

 

Supports, communicates, and implements Company policies/procedures to personnel as outlined in the Employee Handbook. At the same time, advocates for improved procedures as necessary.

 

Performs a variety of entry-level bookkeeping and accounting tasks.

 

Reconciles general ledger accounts monthly, prepares journal entries monthly, account analysis, produces reports as required.

 

Performs research on multiple transactions, job/cost revenue, accounts receivable and accounts payable.

 

Assists in the preparation of audit schedules.

 

Maintains the Fixed Asset and associated depreciation schedules, provides monthly detail to the Corporate Controller for general journal entries, ensures proper recording of new purchases and disposals.

 

Carries responsibility for daily cash reconciliation, posting of cash entries and journal entries to general ledger, cash receipts and check clearing.

 

Produces monthly bank reconciliations.

 

Assists with the monthly close process, as needed.

 

Maintains internal controls and seeks to mitigate operational risks.

 

Education and/or Experience

A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field is highly preferred and three or more years of experience.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

 

Other Skills and Abilities

Must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation to work and able to pass a drug screen and criminal history background check.
