Summary: This project involved the installation of over 40,000 linear feet of fiber optic cable and 48 new ethernet switches in both tunnel bores of the I-895 Baltimore Harbor Tunnel. The fiber optic cable was installed in raised duct banks adjacent to the travel lanes and into 44 wall mounted traffic control boxes. The fiber was pulled to MDTA operation buildings on both ends of the tunnel, spliced, and terminated in MDTA communication cabinets to allow for control of lane signals, cameras, and various air monitoring devices inside the tunnel.
