Project Manager

McLean is looking to hire an experienced Project Manager to join our team in Annapolis, MD. The ideal candidate will have experience managing $50M+ heavy civil projects at PM level.

Selected candidate will be assigned to a two-year project to replace the Navy’s Yard Patrol (YP) Pier and Wave Screen in Annapolis, MD. The work includes demolition and replacement of a 760-ft long main pier and nine 128-ft long figure piers. A 910-ft long concrete wave screen will also be removed and replaced as part of the work. Eight additional slips for YP vessels consisting of timber swing piers and fender piles will be removed and replaced. The new structures are constructed with wood, steel and concrete piles, with both precast and cast-in-place concrete superstructure.

The Project Manager will work in tandem with Project Superintendents, Engineers and the Construction Manager to ensure projects are successfully completed safely, on time and on budget. He/She will collaborate with field supervisors on a daily basis, and act as the company’s primary point of contact when communicating, negotiating or trouble-shooting contractual, commercial or technical issues with the Owner. The Project Manager will work closely with the Construction Manager to coordinate and develop the careers of field supervisors on their projects, write and approve purchase orders and subcontracts, develop the budget and regularly update cost and revenue projections for their projects. He/She will actively participate in means and methods, safety planning, project scheduling and budgeting in the construction and pre-construction phases, and must have extensive knowledge and experience in the marine/heavy/civil construction industry.

Education and/or Experience

Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering Technology and 5 years of related experience. A combination of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience in heavy civil and marine construction and cost estimating is highly valued.

Other Skills and Abilities

Must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation to work and able to pass a physical. Must be able to pass a Homeland Security background check to qualify for a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).

Physical Demands

Must be physically able to frequently visit job sites or potential job sites and to safely traverse the site and/or travel by boat. At times, this may require climbing on structures of various heights and traversing difficult terrain for the purpose of investigating the conditions at the site and/or documenting construction issues, as required.
