B.O.S.S. Program

October 2018

In January 2018, McLean Contracting rolled out a brand new program entitled, B.O.S.S.  The acronym stands for Behavior Observation Safety Supervisor.  Each of our valued workers is asked to submit one B.O.S.S. card per week.  The cards themselves have a place to identify any safe or unsafe acts that are observed in the workplace.  In the event of an unsafe act, employees are asked to write a description of any corrective action that is taken.  The cards allow our workers to be the “eyes and ears” of safety in the workplace in a completely discreet manner.  The worker who completes the observation is encouraged to write their name on the card, however, the worker being observed remains anonymous.  The information that is collected from the B.O.S.S. cards is then compiled into a spreadsheet and used to identify the strengths and weaknesses in regards to safety in the workplace.  This information is also used to determine training needs and future tool box topics.  The B.O.S.S. program has been a huge success at McLean!
