This project is for the demolition and replacement of the northbound Churchland Bridge over the Western Branch of the Elizabeth River. The original structure was built in 1950’s and was structurally deficient. The replacement bridge is 1,989 feet long featuring a concrete pile and girder design. The contract also includes improvement to the existing southbound structure that is to remain in place. The southbound structure was built by McLean in the 1970’s.
