Internships
Bringing Peace of Mind to Those We Serve
McLean’s summer internship is a dynamic rotational experience designed to immerse students in every aspect of the construction process. It all starts with Steel Toe Boot Camp, our 2-week onboarding training program held at our state-of-the-art facility in Chesapeake, Virginia. From safety fundamentals and construction best practices to technical skills and teamwork exercises, Steel Toe Boot Camp sets the foundation for a successful and engaging internship experience. This comprehensive training experience combines classroom instruction with hands-on practical learning, ensuring interns are well-prepared and confident before stepping on to a project site.
Throughout their internship, interns have the opportunity to work alongside teams in preconstruction services, safety, project management, and field operations with our superintendents. This hands-on exposure allows students to gain a well-rounded understanding of how projects move from concept to completion. The goal is to help each intern discover where their passion lies, whether it’s planning, building, or leading in the field, while developing the skills and relationships that can launch a successful career in construction.
Students who are not local to the Chesapeake, VA or Baltimore, MD areas may be eligible for a housing stipend to help offset temporary living expenses during their internship. This benefit ensures that all interns, regardless of where they’re from, can take full advantage of the opportunity to learn, grow and gain valuable experience without the added stress of relocation costs.
